Lovina
The Lovina beaches on the north coast of Bali are about 10 minutes west of Singaraga.
The Perama shuttle has an office and guest accommodations.
There are quite a few homestays and resorts along the beach from the budget range on up.
Gedes Homestay was 50,000 rupiah per nite.
It is a comfortable location getting a cool breeze from the ocean in the evening.
Small fishing boats are lined up on the beach and the bigger ones are at anchor off shore because they are too heavy to slide around.
There are a few clubs along the road that are open at night. Some have a mellow vibe and are done up very well.
The dogs patrol the beach at night so if you are in the mood to watch the waves or have a smoke you will be joined by the resident dogs that sit in a semicircle around you and bark till you leave. That can get annoying after a while.
One of the guys has a monkey from Sumatera that lives in the tree at the end of the road. He is kept by a leash around his waist and loves to snatch sunglasses from unsuspecting passers by.
It must get boring for that monkey and he is systematically destroying the tree by gnawing at the trunk.
The big attraction is to go dolphin watching or snorkeling. The snorkeling just off the beach isn’t good but the boys have a business bringing tourists out to the reef and usually combine it with a dolphin watching tour.
Lovina is a great place to hang loose and relax for a few days.
