Hundreds of vendors relax in
the shade of the trees while the tourists sizzle in the sun.
There can
be a gentle surf here so lots of people jump on a board and give it a
go. It's a good practice ground.
You have to be a bit careful of the tides especially if you are not
a strong swimmer because there can be a strong current and occasionally someone gets swept away.
At times there is not much surf but it can get pounding especially during the full moon.
Most
surfers here are not experts but are having a good time learning on easy waves.
Some of the pros go to Uluwatu.
The
surf down there really rips and it is great fun to watch those guys
from the cliffs.
Kuta beach has kind of a college spring break feel to it. People are
here for a good time and to blow off a little steam.
Surf boards can be
rented on the beach. You can get a massage on the beach. You can get a
hot meal on the beach. You can buy t-shirts, sunglasses, bows and
arrows, and just about everything else there. It is kind of like a little city.
In the evening it becomes deserted as
the party goers head to the discos and clubs in town.
