There
are a couple of wireless internet cafes on Legian St. in Kuta, Bali.
Many cafes around town have good connections but these
2 are supposed to be broadband so have respectable speed for uploading
pics etc.
The ESC cafe has good food and a pleasant environment. You buy a card
and then register when you log on. For 50,000 rupiah you get about 2 hours of time. There are lines available if the wireless for
some reason is not connecting. The staff is as helpful as can be but
are not for the most part very computer savy.
Across the street next to the CircleK is the Maccaroni. There are 4
terminals upstars that you can use for free as long as you are eating
and drinking there. You can use your laptop there as well and tap into
the wireless connection.
I feel more comfortable at the ESC but they are both ok.
If you go to Ubud there are 2 Internet cafes on Jalan Raya that have
broadband connections. The cost is around 60,000 rupiah an hour and the service can
be slow especially after dinner when the lines are clogged. For me
early mornings worked the best.
One is the "Highway" and the other is upstairs in the bookstore near
the temple by the market. They are about the same. There is another one but I can't remember where it is.
The best internet for the money is the small cafe two doors over from the Highway. It's way cheaper and about the same speed but they don't permit laptops.
