Taman Ayu Bungalos Kuta

Kuta – Cheap accommodation

A really great find is the Taman Ayu Bungalos off of Poppies Lane 1. This family run place is a good value with rooms starting at 40,000 rupiah and up including breakfast.

The rooms are nice and clean and there aren’t any mosquitoes like you can often find even in the expensive resorts. There is no air con but the fans seem keep the rooms comfortable.

You can take a cab from the airport but the drivers are terrified about coming down the narrow alley that is called Poppies Lane. It continues to narrow until it becomes a walkway and a path for motor bikes. Some of them will refuse the trip but it is not really a very big deal.

tamanayu_016 Some will want to drop you off at the Masa Inn which is ok but you shouldn’t have to walk the extra distance in the heat, especially if you have heavy bags. (There are some pictures of the Masa Inn on the Kuta – Places to Stay page).

The Masa Inn has a swimming pool and is an ok tourist hotel but the Taman Ayu is far better for those on a budget. The Taman Ayu has a more personal feel and is a more pleasant place to stay.

The local drivers will have no problem. You have to turn left at TJ’s Mexican restaurant and carry on about 100 meters.

tamanayu_017 Go up the street past the Lima Satu (another good place to stay but is more expensive because it has air conditioning). This place seems to attract a Japanese clientele.

There is a small shop just across the road and a cheap internet with a good connection straight up the road across Legian St. A bright orange sign there advertises the rate of 150 rupiah per minute which is about the cheapest you can find in Kuta.

All in all the Taman Ayu is about the best value and a very convenient location in Kuta. Parama is just up the way on Legian St and Poppies is a half a block away with loads of restaurants, bars, internet and a few travel agencies. It is an easy walk to the beach too.

    Hello adi suryadarma,

You will have to contact the Taman Ayu in person.

The “dutchpickle” site does not make reservations or do bookings – we just show options that are out there but travelers have to make their own arrangements.

  4. Hi Dutchpickle!
Taman Ayu looks like a great place to stay!
I’d like to book ahead but I couldn’t find any email address nor phone #…
Any help would be appreciate ;-)
    Thanks,

    Great website by the way…

    Hi Fab,

I think that you will find that the Taman Ayu gets enough walk in traffic to not be bothered with a reservation system.

Most budget accommodations in Kuta do not do online booking, because it is just too much hassle.

The costs have likely increased since I posted this page.

    Have a great trip!

  6. Hi Dutchpickle!

I wanted to book a room ahead because I will arrive in Kuta around midnight and I didn’t want to wander around with my backpack…
It should be fine to get a room as I will arrive at the beginning of September (high season should be over) especially if there is a lot of walk in/out traffic, as you mentioned.

    Thanks anyway for the tips.

    THANKS FOR YOUR HELP !!!

    Hi kelly,

Wish I could be of more help to you – but I am pretty sure that the Taman Ayu Bungalos just takes travellers as they walk in – on a first come, first served basis.

Once you get to know them you could probably arrange an advance booking.

  9. Hi Kelly!

    Hello wong,

    I don’t have the emails – sorry.

    Hello Aya,

Probably you will have to go with a more expensive option if you want to have guaranteed reservations. This was just an example of what budget accommodation was available in Bali a few years ago. Most places that accept online reservations will be quite a bit more expensive than this example. I don’t have and recent info about Kuta accommodation because I do not travel to Bali very much anymore.

  16. Hi Dutchpickle,

I would like to make a booking for a room in Kuta from 21st June – 23rd June, 2012.
The Taman Ayu Bangalow (Kuta) Poppies Lane (Kuta), anf Puriagung Homestay (Kuta) would be in my budget at 40,000 -70,000 rupiah per night.

Could you please make a booking for me for the dates mentioned above in any homestay or bungalow accomodation, and also provide address & phone number details.

    Thanks,
    Lazar

    Hello Laz,

dp here – I have not been in Kuta the past 6 years so prices and conditions have changed a lot since I put this page on line

I spent most of the past 5-6 years in the Philippines – ( did a few visa runs to Sandakan, Sabah from Zamboanga – but that is about it )

…hopefully a reader or two will come up with some suggestions –

also we do not make reservations or do bookings – the “dutchpickle” website is a simple backpackers traveling blog

    Hello

I do not think that the Taman Ayu Bungalos takes any reservations by internet. I have only stayed there as a walk in and this was some years ago – I just started blogging about budget places to stay in Kuta to give people the idea to try it.

The costs of accommodation in Kuta, Bali tends to have risen substantially since this blog was done. I have spent the past several years in the Philippines and was not able to keep the Bali section updated.

At the end of every page there is a date – this indicates the time the page was done. There are now around 750 pages and the time spread is about 6 years.

    Have a great trip !
