TJ's Mexican Restaurant

tjs_016Kuta - TJ's Mexican Restaurant

TJ's is on Poppies Lane 1 in Kuta, Bali. It's a great little restaurant that offers a reasonable sample of Mexican cusine.

It is a little pricier than the backpacker places but almost all restaurants are a good value in Kuta when compared to elsewhere. A 15 percent tax and service fee is automatically added to the bill.

copy_of_tjs_001.jpgFigure on a good meal and one drink starting at 75,000 rupiah. A wide selection of drinks and deserts are available so it is easy to spend well over 100,000 rupiah (11 USD)

The fajitas are not bad when you figure this is a long way from Mexico.

For those on a super budget there are a few nasi goring places in the alleyways that make a good meal for around 5,000 rupiah (50 cents US)

copy_of_tjs_004.jpgI am not that proud and admit to having run short on cash in the past and take pride in the fact that I can live pretty good on 5 USD a day in Indonesia. I like Indonesian food but it took a few years to get used to the chilis.

TJs is also a good landmark on Poppies Lane 1. If you turn up the alley at the doorway to TJs and follow it up a hundred meters or so you will see Lima Satu Cottages.

tjs_011.jpgThis is a nice place with pool and airconditioning and has a loyal Japanese clientel.

The Taman Ayu is just a few doors down and is a great place for the budget traveler. At 45,000 rupiah a night it is one on the better values in Kuta.

tjs_017.jpgJust across the road is the ultra budget place the Homestay Puriagung where a decent room can be had for 30,000 rupiah.

Bali is a good place to rest and fatten up if you have been on the trail for a while.
