Flew into Dili from Bali yesterday. It is good to be back. The tent city is still spread out at the airport where refugees fled during the violence this past summer. It is kind of a trip being back here.
I was a bit overweighted at the airport because I like to bring a lot of stuff with me that is hard to get in Timor. I got nipped a bit by customs but that was ok.
There was a crowd of kids trying to load the stuff into the taxi. I gave them 10 cents each. The ride into town was 5.00. It is good to be back again.
Note: A forum has been added if anyone wants to post information or ask questions that we might be able to help with. It is fairly new but sooner or later there should be a few regulars. Some people just drove in from England on their way overland to New Zealand. You meet all kinds of interesting travelers in East Timor. There is not really a developed backpacker trail here but you can make your own trail and have a really good time doing it.
