Coral Gardens Dili

After our surface interval we headed down the beach road 10 kilometers or so to another of Waynes favorite coral gardens.
We dropped down to 30 meters and slowly worked our way up in a zigzag fashion. There was just a fantastic variety of corals. You can see some great soft corals off off Nusa Penida in Bali or Panatao in Leyte but I have never seen so many different types.
Some looked like cherry trees in bloom and others looked like they were covered with purple snow.
It was pretty cool.

We went up to 5 -10 meters and hung around for a while stretching our dive out to 102 minutes.

On the way back to Dili we passed 2 refugee camps where the people of Dili had fled the city in panic ond were camping out in the woods.
It was really unfortunate but the people were not taking any chances in case violence erupted in the city as it had done a few years ago. For the most part things were not too alarming and we noticed several truckloads of people heading back to the city as tensions eased.
