Things seem to be setteling down quite a
bit and a lot of vendors are back at their stalls selling fish,
banananas, cigarettes and the like.
We opted for one dive as out mate Jurgen had to be back in town for a meeting.
We took the road over the pass and got a good view of Dili. Usually
after several long or deep dives they stick to the shore road to avoid
any complications with the altitude.
One would be quite screwed to get bent here as there are no deco
chambers around and you might have to get airlifter to Australia.
Ther funniest thing is to see lobsters and fish hanging from trees alongside the road. The locals tie up produce and the like to tree branches in the shade so people driving by can see what they have and stop to buy if they like. There are dead pigeons hanging by their necks like christmas ornaments and it really looks rather odd. One must be alert when driving because pigs and goats are on the road everywhere.
Anyway we got to the dive site and went out to the point where the
current was pushing a bit. We just hung out there max 27 meters and
watched 2 Napoleans and 2 big schools of travelleys. It was a great
dive and we located a few nudibranchs on the way back. If they had
simple names I would put them in but the Latin names are ridiculously
long and pretentious so I will leave it at that. But in the last 2 days
I saw 3 nudibranchs for the first time.
If you want to know what they were send an email and I will dig out the notes.
We plan to dive the sea grass beds tomorrow and look for sea horses and dugongs
