Independence Day holiday Nov 28 is celebrated by some groups as Independence Day. The ASDT political supporters were in traditional garb playing musical instruments along the beach. I am told that there are several different independence days depending on what political party you are affiliated with. These folks were from the Same sub-district. Some of them had been fighters in the resistance against Indonesia. They were a colorful and friendly lot. There were some palm wine vendors along the beach so it looked like it was going to turn into a big party by nightfall. Dili - East Timor 2006   www.dutchpickle.com
