The Xanana Reading Room
This library has a lot of information about East Timor from 1975 till the present.
The current president of East Timor, Xanana Gusmao, was actively involved in the resistance against the Indonesian occupation.
There are some photo displays on the walls dedicated to the memory of those that died. It is very moving.
The lawn outside has been neglected but inside it is neat and organized, like a museum.
There are some video tapes that you can play in the vcr and there are several newspapers in Tetum, Portugese and English.
A few magazines like the Economist and New Zealand Geographic are in the back room and there is a good selection of books in the side room.
Some computers with internet access are available for 3.00 an hour in the room behind the gift shop.

Saya sangat senang melihat sejarah berdirinya Timor Leste, sehingga wawasan akan sejarah perjuangan terus tersimpan dengan rapi. Saya sebagai pendatang baru di Timor Leste sangat mengaguminya. Walaupun saya merasakan masih banyaknya kekurangan-kekurangan yang mesti di perbaiki.
