Dead trees on Ramailau
There are dead trees all over the place near the top on Mt. Ramailau. They have been ringed around the trunk with a deep groove. That is done sometimes to get the lumber to dry in a straight shape before the trees are felled.
They must have been part of a long ago logging operation that ended for some reason and left the trees standing in the wind. It looks like they were abandoned over a hundred years ago because they are weathered and almost seem petrified.
Maybe they are remnants of an old sandalwood operation. It is kind of a mystery.
If anyone knows something about this, I would be interseted in hearing about it. You could either put some information on the forum or send me an email at dutchpickle @ hotmail. com .
Thanks.
