season it is not particularly difficult but would probably be a real
challenge in the wet.

Irabere
During the wet it would be easy to get stranded down there because you
could have raging rivers on both sides of you and nowhere to go.
During a heavy rain the streams are impassible.

Lore village
To
see a really neat village on the south coast make a trip to Lore. I was
going to try to make it from there to Viqueque along the coast but the
road was washed away by the river.

Natarbora to Manatutu
The trip from Maubisse down to Betano, across to Natarbora and up to
Manatutu over to Dili takes about 10-12 hours depending on the problems
you run into.

The taro palm is a low nutrition food that is pulverized and made into flour. It is fed to pigs and also made into a type of bread and used for human consumption.

Betano
In Betano there are no facilities but the beach is very accessible. It
is an ideal place for camping. You could find fish for sale or catch
your own but it would be best to bring any other supplies that you
might need with you.

In Suai, the Eastern Dragon is across the street from the police station. There are rooms available at 25.00 to 45.00 a night. It is not a backpackers budget place but more of a UN or NGO workers place.

Rua Beloi
The loseman Rua Beloi is along the river going out of Viqueque to the north. Pak charges 7.00 a night and gives you bread and coffee in the morning.
