The Lavalon guesthouse is located near the Danamon bank on Jalan
Sumatera, a quiet residential side street.
Rooms are 30,000 - 40,000 rupiah a nite. Rooms 2 and 3 seem to be the nicest.
Room 4 has roosters in cages just outside the window that
start crowing around 3AM.

Kupang West Timor
Kupang is comfortable spread out port city on the west end of Timor.
It is a short hop over to Darwin and a good entry point to begin your
travels in Indonesia. You can get your 30 day visa on arrival in most
cases.

Lavalon Bar - Kupang
No
visit to Kupang would be complete without having a beer at the Lavalon
bar.
The view is great, the beer is cold, and it is a good place to
pick up travel information for East and West Timor.

Good food
Kupang is a good place to fatten up if you have been on the trail for a while in the islands.
Nasi and mie goring are great but it is great to find a restaurant with a proper menu and good service.

Teddy's Bar
This colorful hangout is right on the beach where the river runs to the sea.
There is a cool breeze blowing in and the setting is superb. Occasionally a yacht from Australia is anchored a ways off shore. Teddy's has character.

Visa run to Dili
There are a couple of travel services that run shuttle buses between
Kupang and Dili. The cost is 17 to 18 USD.
They will pick you up from
your home or hotel and drop you off where you want when you arrive,
usually at a late hour.
