Cebu – Masbate – Ticao – Pilar

The easiest way to get from Cebu to Donsol without flying would be to take the Trans Asia ferry from Cebu  to Masbate and then the Montenegro fast craft for 360 pesos or the pump boat for 180 pesos to Pilar. From Pilar, get a jeepney to Donsol for around 15 pesos.

The best part of this trip is squeezing between Ticao Island and the beautiful but tiny islands of Bagababoy and San Miguel.

Bagababoy Island has a small settlement or resort near a sandy beach in a perfect setting, but it is so remote that it would be a job getting supplies.

The swirling waters pass between these islands creating a lot of turbulence leading me to think that there must be some great diving in that area. I have not yet been there but there is supposed to be a German owned dive shop on Ticao itself. Anyone dove there? Write in and I can add it to this page. Thanks.

The pump boat takes about 3 1/2 hours to get from Pilar near Donsol to Masbate and the Trans Asia ferry to Cebu from Masbate takes 12 hours and costs 480 pesos in economy class.
