   I plan to be back there in Donsol next week but I am not actually a booking agent for annie (just an information website)

   If you do not arrive on a weekend – it is my feeling that you will be able to just walk in and get a room.

   There are several other resorts in the nearby area that should have something available if The Vitton Beach Resort is full.

   I think that “Holy Week” might be quite busy but the peak season is already past, so I suspect that you can just arrive and get a room.

   Amor Farms Resort is just up the road on the way to town as well, and there is another resort just past Vitton Beach Resort. (Woodland Resort?)

   I was going to Donsol this week but got delayed by family obligations and hope to head up there the Monday after Easter.

   The Vitton Beach Resort is well run with a solid staff, so most likely the guy that answered the phone simply did not understand English.

   I will stop in and talk to Annie about any other contact info. next week.

   I was in Donsol two years ago. The whale shark encounter was really wonderful as well as the manta ray in Manta bowl. I stayed at Vitton last time. Since I am not sure whether I can get hold with Vitton, that’s why I ask about the guest houses as well.

   I call a person named Marichu from woodland resort, she said Vitton and Woodland are both fully booked (1 – 5 May for my visit). She offered a resort called Gulli and said it is next door. However, as far as I could remember, there are only Vitton, Woodland and Amor Farm in that area. Is that right? And, she did not advise me how to pay the booking deposit.

   Last time, my trip was arranged by a local agent who charged a sky rocket price. This time, I would like to book the room by myself. Could you please help me to ask the payment/deposit procedure? I am not in the Phillippines, so… it may be a bit difficult.

    Ormoc is a city on Leyte Island whene my girlfriends parents live, so we are spending the “Holy” week there.

    I wish I was a bigger help but don’t have any additional information right now. Donsol has grown rapidly in the last 10 years and is sure to go more corporate as time goes on. Many places will probably be able to take reservations on line at that time. I hope the small town feel doesn’t get ruined however!

    I can understand your frustration! There are a few new resorts in the works on the bay, as more and more tourists hear about the whale sharks.

    It really is a neat experience!

    I think it might be best to just chance it – you could always get a place in Legaspi and drive to Donsol early in the morning if there were no rooms available in town.

    Yup, Donsol is getting popular. Lots of tourists started to flood in from Asia and other places, hope it won’t be over-developed.

    I apologize for the delay. I just put up the information that they gave me and will not update the information until February of next year, when I plan to stop in Donsol for a holiday of my own.

    Here are the rates Annie quoted me in March this year 2009:

    Standard room 1,800 (2pax)
    300 pesos extra pax (2 extra max)
    200 extra mattress
    3,500 – family room – 4 pax (with dinette)
    all rooms have ac and hot shower

    My feeling is that Donsol Bay is far better to snorkel that dive. In the bay itself, scuba diving is not allowed for whatever reason. It is probably a good thing because there is heavy boat traffic and the chance of running over divers would be good.

    A lot of the diving is done in the Manta Bowl off of Ticao Island and along San Miguel Island. The costs are a lot higher when diving, but it can be rewarding if you see some jumbo mantas.

    You are probably aware that Easter time is really busy everywhere in the Philippines so if you can not get a hold of Vitton Beach Resort, try to line up accommodation elsewhere because rooms might be scarce that week!

    I stopped in the Vitton Resort on Dec 1 and they were not really open for the season yet. One American couple were the only occupants.

    We did go looking for whalesharks and saw a few, however it is early in the season.

    I think that you will have a very good chance of seeing the whale sharks in mid January.

    The Vitton resort is right next to the visitors center. The Amor beach resort is pretty well liked too, then there is the Woodland further down the road past the visitors center.

    Giddy’s , Hernandez, and Santiago are three places in Donsol proper that are pretty nice too.

    Hernandez and Santiago are the cheapest, but Giddy’s has Wi-Fi.
