Cebu Hotels
The Sogo, Cebu View, Mercedes, McSherry Pension House, Golden Valley Hotel, Silverdale, and Tower Hotel are all near the corner of Sanciangko and Pelaz Streets.
This is kind of a sleezy part of town but it is a handy location. Our Place Bar is on the corner. Two good internet cafes are close by. Tresor and Red King Internet.
The Colonade Mall is a short walk away and has a money changer at the entrance.
Three Jollibee restaurants and a movie theater are close by.
Ticket agents for the ferrys are on the sidewalk.
You can catch a jeepney on Osmena Blvd up to the Robinson mall.
There is a National Bookstore on the same street where you can buy maps and books.
The Cebu Century hotel has a Cebu Pacific ticket agent in the lobby but you will get far better service if you just go to Robinson Mall first thing in the morning ant get your tickets direct.
The Cebu View charges 650 peso per night with discount. The rooms are air conditioned but rather small. Security at this place is good and there are safe boxes at the desk.
I don't stay there because I need windows and there are only 2 rooms or so that have one and they are usually booked.
The Mercedes starts at 900 peso. They have an advertised price of 635 peso but I don't think there are ever any rooms at that price.
If you walk down the alley alongside the Mercedes and Red King Internet cafe you will come to the McSherry Pension House. This place is a favorite of colorful gang of social misfits.
The rooms are 380 peso with fan and 480 with air conditioning. The rooms are good sized and there are really big windows that open up.
A creepy black bikini disco, Tina's Dark Nest, is in the parking lot next door.
The Sogo next to the Cebu View on Sanciangko is more of a short time outfit for romantic get aways. The clue is that they charge by the hour. The Sogo Chain has hotels in all the major cities and are usually well kept.
If you arrive in town and need a rest and a shower before catching the plane this is a good option.
The new Tower Hotel and the Golden Valley are more upscale. The Silverdale is across from the San Carlos stadium.
The Tower, a new hotel on the corner of Osmena Blvd. is offering promo deals now. Their regular prices are between 850 and 2250 peso depending on the room.
The GVTower is on the corner of Sanciangko and Osmena. I am guessing that it opened in 2007.
I took this picture last time I was in Cebu to get my visa extension.
There is an electronics shop across the street from the tower that sells cable for tvs and all sorts of electrical connectors.
Taxis and jeepneys pass this corner all day and night so it is a convenient, but busy location. A jeepney to Osmena Circle / Robinson Mall is around 7 pesos. A cab will run 45 to 50 pesos.
Cebu View Hotel is by the taxi, next to Sogo, then there are a few small shops and Tresor Internet.
There are 2 very good fried chicken cafes and a small sari sari store that has razors, shampoo ans soap at real prices.
I am standing beneath Our Place restaurant taking this picture.
