Getting from Cebu City to to the island of Malaspacua off the north end of Cebu island takes a little time but the scenery is beautiful as you follow the coast road.
In Cebu City it is best to take taxi to the"North" bus terminal in Mandaue city. All the cab drivers will know where it is, but mention Maya if they aren't quite sure what you are talking about.
Maya is the port on the north tip of Cebu island where the pump boats depart from Cebu island to Malapascua.
From Robinson mall to the bus station will be around 75 peso. I usually tip the driver few peso if they gave good service.
The fare for the bus, Ceres Liner, will be 60 peso and they will drop you off at the pier. It takes 4 1/2 hours or so to get to Maya but you stop along the way to eat.
A pump boat then must be arranged to get you to the island. The standard fare is 40 pesos but varies at times.
They usually tack on an additional 10 peso for the rowboat that brings you out to the main boat which is moored 100 meters off shore.
From Cebu to Malapascua should take a little over 4 hours. The boat drops you off right on the sandy beach in front of`the dive shops.
dp tip - Stock up on plastic garbage bags in Cebu so you can cover your gear for the boat ride over. Sometimes a heavy rain shower will soak you.
