Philippine Drivers License

drivers-license-005.jpg Philippine Drivers License

There are a few different schools of thought on this one.

Some foreigners do it the standard way which requires a lot of waiting in lines.

Others use the services of a fixer to speed things up a bit.

There is a mandatory drug test but an actual road test is not required if you already have a drivers license from another country.

drivers-license-003.jpg The costs are as follows:

Application fee - 25.00 pesos

Conversion fee - 30 pesos

License fee - 180 pesos

Comp fee -67.63
-------------------------

total  fees  - 302.63

drivers-license-009.jpg The drug test is taken separately at one of the near by clinics at the cost of 100 to 150 pesos

Getting the results of that test are the first thing on the list.

Then getting the initial photo for the plastic license is the next step. You have to return later in the day to get a second photo for the temporary license.

The plastic one can be picked up 5 or 6 months later at the same office. It is really not an ideal situation for someone on a short term stay in the Philippines.

drivers-license-002.jpgI think International drivers licenses are accepted and the license from your home country is good for stays of less than 1 month but I am not really sure what the actual laws are.

It probably depends on the copper shaking you down.
