SM Mall Cebu
Ayala Mall and SM Mall are the 2 most popular malls in Cebu City.
Two of my favorite stores there are Habagat and Ace Hardware.
I got a 14 inch color tv at the appliance center for 4,200 pesos last week. I am staying in Samar and its hard to shop over there.
You will have to get a bill of lading from the shipping company and pay port fees if you have purchased stuff that is obviously new. ie. still in the box.
You can get away with quite a bit of carry on without paying extra but I had 5 large parcels.
There are always sweethearts from the many colleges in Cebu at the mall.
They pretend to be shy but really love the attention!
The Habagat store has high quality Filipino and imported goods.
They handle Petzl helmets and technical climbing equipment. We picked up a couple flotation vests for use in the underground rivers in the cave systems in Samar.
There is a surprisingly active market in the Philippines for adventure equipment.
All malls in the Philippines will have security people that check your bags upon entry.
The SM Mall can be reached by jeepney or taxi. From Colon it will cost about 7 pesos for the jeepney and about 50 to 60 pesos for a cab.
You can get anything from guitars to fast food. I have not honestly found any food at the SM Mall that deserves mention.

My husband and I went to SM City Cebu earlier to buy some stuff. When we we’re waiting in the cashier area, we found a magazine which is open. We tried to check what’s inside when suddenly one of their security guards approached us and forced us to pay for the magazine because we read it. We told the guard that it’s already open. But, guess what! The guard accussed us that we are the one who opened it and we should pay for it. I was so disappointed with SM City Cebu’s customer service. They really suck big time. I will make sure to scatter what happen.
i have been to sm malls many times and think they are good just respect their rules
i always get special treatment from security
because they know australians are good and kind and courteous

absolutely. there are guess stores in ayala and sm. there’s even baby guess and guess kids if you want to specifically shop for kids.
Hi Rhiena, sad to say I am a Filipina itself but Filipino is kind of sucks and stupid idiot trying hard to show around the world that they are the best and nicest people but they werent. Regarding the reading of magazines and the secu guard, they can just easily pointed at u that u reading it coz they dont have any security hidden cameras to prove u have really did it. It is very easy to say and point on someone by words and hearsays. Next time be very carefull Im sick and tired of those stupid Filipino

rhiena, just keep in mind that, i think, it could also be just some sort of a cultural difference. if u see anything open, why do u think you have the right to check what is inside ? if you see something broken, why bother meddle with it ? it is common for filipino culture or practice that if you are at the scene of the crime, you will be looked upon as a suspect. its called “napagbintangan” or “napagkamalan”. if you see somebody lying on the road appearing to be dead, don’t try to be CSI and check what is inside. call for help or just stay away or at least wait until you see other people who can witness or testify for you (that you are not involved). too many nutty behaviors going on and in the philippines, u sure don’t wanna be blamed for something. i don’t think there is a “Good Samaritan Law” practiced in the philippines. but we do practice, watch your own back !!!

Hi to everyone,here in the USA, it is ok to read the magazine opened except if the magazine was wrapped with plastic.i would like to suggest about the magazine that was opened and someone read it that should be allowed to read coz it is open. the card for holiday’s displayed in the market was opened and people can read the message.Because what if someone doesn’t like the message on the card or in the magazine no one would buy it unless keep it wrapped with plastic.But Why can’t you guy’s put all the same card on the display area so people can read and same as the magazine.It is helpful to someone that doesn’t know the message on it.

I love SM Malls they are the biggest malls that I have ever been in. It has a lot of imported things, that I can buy that they don’t sell here in Ormoc. Has anyone seen a pomegranate or dragon fruit anywhere in Cebu, because I really want one, it was my favorite food in the states.

Philippine Malls are safer compared to U.S.A. Malls ‘coz there are security guards who inspect the bag of every person before entering the malls. In U.S.A., anybody can get inside the malls or supercenters without any bag inspection, so there are massacres/shooting happened in the malls of United States, even in the universities, though there are hidden cameras in every mall or university, but it’s useless when bad incidents already happened.
hi everyone. Tell you about a story of a bag inspection. There was this 4 year-old girl very fond of malling with her foster family. She is quite observant that every visit to the mall she makes sure that she holds unto her foster grandma upon entry and bag inspection. She does this everytime they visit to the mall. The next day, her foster uncle teased her that he is going to the mall, and invited the little girl to go with him. The Little girl asked the foster uncle if he has money inside the bag upon entry to the mall. Because the mall guards will inspect the bag if there is money inside. hahaha. DOES BAG INSPECTION MEANS TO CHECK MONEY INSIDE THE BAG SO ONE CAN ENTER THE MALL???????? funny……….
omg!! r u serious?..sorry to hear bout the magazine issue..here in U.S like at the grocery store people are always, i mean always reading the tabloids and magazines that are displayed at the checkout area..i mean that’s what they’re there for..lol..while waiting in line i just grab a tabloid or a mag and i put it back when it’s my turn to pay..if you want to buy the magazine, good..if not then nobody cares..you could even hang out at barnes and nobles or wherever they sell mags and books and read there for free, wifi, or just to hang out and read magazines u don’t have to pay anything..
