Sunshine Pension House – Moalboal Cebu
This place is geared to the budget traveler with rooms starting at 600 pesos. If you plan to stay a while they will most likely drop the price by a hundred pesos or so.
The motorbike boys will know where it is if you are using their services.
If you are just walking around town it can be found straight up the road by the the Blue Abyss dive shop just before you get to Quo Vadis.
Quo Vadis has some bungalows that are also in the same budget range (around 500-600 peso)
The rooms are simple but comfortable. A small coffee table with 2 chairs and some shelves to put clothes on makes you settle in very easily.
I also feel good about the security in this Swiss-Filppina family style pension.
There is a bit of a water shortage but it doesn’t bother me to fill the plastic water storage in the cr from 5 gallon jerry cans.
They are constantly being filled from the supply pipe that starts from the water source high up in the mountains. I am used to the scoop and bucket.
The water pressure is not high enough to run the shower properly.
There is also a well maintained pool in the courtyard and a Swiss restaurant out front.
The electricity is on 24 hours so you have fan and lights and can recharge your batteries.
San Miguel beers are 30 pesos and cokes and sprites are 15 pesos.
It is stressed that you do not use the water for washing clothing but they offer laundry services at very reasonable prices – (shirts – 5 pesos, long pants – 10 pesos).
I like this place but am moving tomorrow to Cora’s.
There is a room available there right on the water for 600 peso and it is closer to the center of town.
