Weesam Express

Ormoc to Cebu

The Supercat Fast Ferry and Weesam Express make the trip from Ormoc to Cebu. Supercat fare is around 750 pesos and Weesam charges 630 pesos for the same trip.

They both clip right along but Supercat has food and stewardesses but you have to pay for the food if you want it. Supercat also has an air conditioned waiting area but Weesam does not. Update 2010 – the new Weesam facility in Ormoc City has just been completed and is very nice!

There is an air conditioned internet cafe just up the street where you can spend some time in comfort waiting for the ferry.

I take the Weesam and spend the money I saved at the internet and buying some oranges “ponkan” and lechon from the street vendors. 120 pesos adds up after a few trips.

The Weesam Express also has a viewing deck where you can breath fresh air but you are locked in on the Super Cat.

Here are some pictures leaving the docks in Leyte and passing between Cebu and Mactan Island under the Mactan Bridge. It can be an enjoyable trip of just over 2 hours.

    Hi jay,

    Thanks for the “heads up”

Schedules are constantly changing in the Philippines. Do you have the latest one? Thanks

    Note:

Sea Cat departs from the same pier and make several trips a day too.

Please check the paper for the most recent schedule. Almost every newspaper in the Philippines has a page dedicated just to ferry schedules.

    ferry story…
I was planning to take the Roble once a week ferry from Cebu to Catbalogan, Samar. I went down on Thurs to get my ticket and get a bill of lading for my motorbike. The trip was canceled inadvertently for two weeks with no explaination. I had to get home to Samar and decided to take the night trip on Lite Shipping from Cebu to Ormoc and drive home from there. (Its a 6 hour drive) I got my ticket Fri morning and noticed a big sign stating that the trip was scheduled for every day except Friday. Well the Tuesday trip had been canceled because of a signal one typhoon and they made up for it by adding a Friday run.

That’s the way things are done in the Philippines. I made it to Ormoc around 6pm, stopped at Dunkin Donuts for coffee and got the 35 munchkin special for my girl. Then it was a 6 hour drive through the night in a driving rain on flooded roads. I had my laptop with me too and keeping it dry was my major concern.

I was happy to have no passengers because it was a tough trip.

    hello,,

    Greetings!

I am jenny from Cagayan…I always chose Cebu to spend my Holidays but the best part of it is to visit Bohol with my friends and sometimes with my relatives and we always chose weesam express to sail us back and forth because the crew and most especially the stewards are all very welcoming and very friendly….

More Power and looking forward to sail again with weesam in the future!!!!

    Hello Judy,

    I don’t have that information…

Always check the newspapers for the latest schedules and routes.

I still think that taking the express bus – Ceres Liner – is the easiest and quickest public transportation between Cebu and Dumaguete. The Ceres bus takes a ferry between the two islands where they are very close together and that part of the journey takes about a half hour.

Passengers get off the bus and sit on the upper deck of the ferry on the way across and then get back on the bus after it drives down the ramp to dry land.

hi!may I know the latest fare of weesam from cebu-tagbilaran-cebu (round trip ticket)? Is there a round trip promo now? Thanks!

  10. dutchpickle on said:

    Hi jodie,

I am not able to keep up with all the current fares and ferry schedules so you will have to contact the ferry office or check the newspapers.

Almost all the papers have 2 pages dedicated to ferry ads and schedules and will advertise special promo rates too.

The schedules that I post on the stories were current date I published them however. (Look at the bottom of every page and you will see the publish date)

    Hi lucy,

Hopefully Weesam will be running a promo rate when you plan to travel but it is unlikely they will give special discounts.

Please check the local newspaper for the most recent rates and schedules.

Fares and schedules change on a regular basis and the info on this page is dated.
