Busuanga Island back roads – Palawan by Motorcycle
There are miles of dusty roads to explore on Busuanga. If you need a break from diving you can rent a motorcycle and just take off for the day.

Most people come to Busuanga Island to snorkel and dive on the Japanese supply ships that were sunk near Coron during WW2. That sounds interesting but I decided to take the day and explore some of the back roads on the island by motorbike instead.
Busuanga is hot, dry and dusty. There are very few facilities for gasoline or mechanical repair once you get away from two main towns. This island isn’t that big but there’s not much going on away from the two main towns.

Check over your bike before you set out. Start with a full fuel tank, check the chain for tightness and the tires for proper inflation. If you get a flat way out there it will become a bit of a hassle and you might have to drive out on a flat tire.
I did a 150 kilometer round trip yesterday from Coron to Busuanga and over to Cherry and San Jose and back to Coron. It wasn’t that difficult but it really is dusty. You can get your bike washed back in town for 30 pesos – well worth the price!

There are rental bikes in town where you can get a Honda XR or equivilent for around 1000 pesos per day.

Busuanga is where I see myself buying a piece of land and live till old age. I love laidback still undeveloped vast lands, though I feel the commodities are pricey
Hello jay,
Sounds like a cool idea – but just be aware that if you are not a Filipino you will never be able to legally own land in your name. You will have to put up the money but someone else will hold the title and the land must be in their name- just the way it works in the Philippines.
…but I agree with you that Busuanga is a very cool place to hang out. Consider just renting a place for a few years.
…also be aware that water is not readily available in many parts of Busuanga Island.
cheers
