Bayview Inn and Restaurant - Tacloban, Leyte
The Bayview Inn, located the San Jose area of Tacloban, is a pretty good value. It’s owned by the same family as the Basic Rooms Hotel across the street from the convention center closer to downtown.
The same level of quality applies to this place, but it is a bit older and rougher around the edges.
Basic Rooms was fully booked so the manager gave us directions to the Bayview. It was 9:30pm - we lucked out and got the last available room. The Bayview Inn is on the road heading out to the airport, just past the rotunda where the Coca Cola plant is.
We got a double fan room with cr in the room for 370 pesos. There are several buildings with different levels of comfort in the rooms. Some are fully air conditioned and quite nice and others are a bit more plain.
People looking for a plush resort to spend their holidays are probably not looking for the Bay View Inn, but for travelers just looking for a secure place with parking to spend the night, it’s perfect!
The hallway in one of the nicer buildings ends right at the sea wall.
I think that there are 5 or 6 different buildings on the grounds with room rates varying on the level of comfort.
This aircon double runs 780pesos for 24 hours or 580 pesos for 12 hours.
The “ordinary” rooms, or fan rooms run 336 pesos for a single and 370 pesos for a double. They are clean and simple.

My feeling is that the Basic Rooms Hotel across from the convention center is the nicest of the two. On weekends they fill up fast, but mid week there are usually vacancies unless there is an event in town.
