I buy house plants from Mebod’s Green down by the city hall building in Ormoc City.
Their prices are reasonable and the plants are pretty nice.
I needed varieties that can take a lot of sun because they sit out in front of my windows on the balcony.

These plants cut down the heat absorbed by the walls of the building so it is cooler at night in the apartment.
I don’t use air conditioning and it has been hotter than usual in Ormoc City lately due to the El Nino effect.
Plants give a place life and put me in a relaxed frame of mind. I also keep a few fish tanks around for the same reason.

The guy that sells the fish from a motorcycle by Guisanos Supermarket has a new stand under the shade of the trees there too.
I picked up a few more fish from him this morning. That is his kid helping him scoop out my selection. This location is less hectic than the one on the busy street by Guisanos supermarket, but he gets a lot more foot traffic over there.

The smaller plants are as low as 25 – 50 pesos but any or the bigger plants will start at 150 pesos on up to 800 pesos for more exotic varieties.
Most of the stuff I buy is around 150 pesos because I don’t want to sink too much money into them.
My plan is to eventually dig up some plants up in the mountain. I might get to get a bunch of makahiya plants along the railing because they are so hardy.

Simple plants like this sell for around 50 pesos.

Not the tourist price?
Dave make a deal…
The comedy begins when I take off with 3 or 4 plants tied to the back of my bike.

Small world DP, we are sitting in a restobar in Cebu enjoying your site. My friend recognized the flower shop as once worked there, also Clear the sales lady.
Yes plants do attract thge mossies but I find those rechargable rackets are the best, cost P200 and work really well. Its a job after waking up to zap them all.
Simple little pics and info like this page make your site special.
Keep it up
Thanks Bruce,
…for sure those rackets are great. Have to get another one!
