This egg boat hauls nothing but eggs to the market in Ormoc, Leyte. They make two or three trips a week and dock downtown where they unload them for delivery to the local market and businesses.
I am not sure if if they collect from one super farm or if they collect from a bunch of smaller operations.

These guys think that I am a bit weird but they invited me on board anyway. I have never seen so many eggs in one place before.

Not only is the hold crammed full, the stacks of eggs are piled on the deck as well.

Imagine the omlet that would result if this boat ran into rough seas!

The Philippines is such an interesting place – it’s always a good idea to keep a camera in your pocket because you never know what you will come across.
…gotta love the philippines!
More egg pictures …
This is down by the docks in Catbalogan Samar where they also get their eggs by pump boat.

In this town everything gets delivered by tricycle.
In Cebu City the eggs get delivered by motorbike!

You are right about that.
So many things that seem unusual to us, is just daily routine for them. The best pictures are “unstaged” people just going about their business. Any more thought on re-posting the pictures on a free hosting site? In any event, I love the way you present the Philippines in a positive note, and keep up the good work.
Hello Lloyd,
Thanks, will have to do something with the pictures.
I hope to get internet connection at my apt next month which will make it easier. It took me 16 hours to upload 1 minute of video for youtube last time I tried.
I have just been operating out of internet cafes the last 3 years. It cost me a fortune in East Timor where the charge was 6USD per hour for a real slow connection and constant electrical interruptions. I have heard that the costs have dropped to 2USD per hour there now. (I spent over 1000 USD just to put up 100 pitiful stories about that beautiful country).
No complaints however – it was so cool.
cheers

Thanks for being so committed to sharing your stories with the rest of us! For those of us who cannot travel at present for whatever reason, we can at least get a taste of that beautiful country.
Another great story from the Philippines…thanks for sharing.
