Oriental Distributors- This repair shop next to the Petron in Ormoc is the top motorbike repair facility in town.
The Honda dealers do not keep many parts in stock so this is the place everyone goes. Parts are available and freelance mechanics work on the sidewalk out front. It seems a bit haphazard but the mechanics do good work cheap.
I was planning on making a run down to see the completed Agas Agas bridge north of Sogod tomorrow morning and wanted to get an oil change today. Changing the oil is not very complicated but these guys change it for 30 pesos and then I don’t have to deal with it. (40wt oil costs 140 pesos a litre)
I had stopped at one of the Honda dealers on Friday but nothing could be done because the guy in charge of selling the oil was somewhere else working on his motorbike. Today is Saturday but it was not a problem to pull up on the sidewalk at Oriental and get the job done. When asked, the mechanic said it was “up to you” as far as the charges. Honda shops charge 30 pesos but I suspect that they do it here for 20 but I gave him 30 and asked him to adjust the chain too.
The parts crew:
They changed my sprockets and chain about 2 weeks ago – and were the only shop in town with the parts. The mechanic finished the job for 100 pesos.

when they said “its up to you” that means give him more than 30 pesos. lol!
By the way, 30php is a standard rate for almost all of bike shops here in the city for basic services like changing motor oils, fixing brakes, etc.
About that fish that you were looking at the fish market i dont know its name but it is quite tasty. The only way to cook that fish is to grill it then match it with soy sauce, vinegar and chilli pepper.

Thanks – agreed – 30 pesos seems to be the standard charge for small repairs and oil changes.
