Surfing San Juan La Union
July is not the surfing season here in San Juan La Union but you can still enjoy the ocean view and breath the fresh salt air.
The prime surf season begins in October and runs up ’till December. This beach will never have the draw of the famous Cloud 9 break in Siargao but San Juan might be a great place for surf lessons.
This peaceful beach at San Juan is around a 15 – 20 minute drive north of the hectic pace you find at San Fernando.
There are a half a dozen or more resorts – all on the beach.
There is also a public access from a small dirt road at the south end of the beach.
That makes it a lot nicer than the “beach” resort area south of San Fernando, where the “beach” is difficult to access because the resorts have the beach pretty well blocked off.
San Juan would be a good weekend break if you are doing a tour of Northern Luzon, but I don’t think that it would be ideal for a primary destination.
Visa information – Nearby San Fernando has a super efficient immigration office. ARC-1 cards can be applied for there and visa extensions are a breeze.
