There are a number of ways to reach Camiguin Island by boat. The
shortest trip is from Balingoan on the northern tip of Mindanao but
there is even a weekly ferry to Cebu.

camiguin-ferry-003It takes about an hour from Balingoan to Mahinog on Camiguin Island. Mahinog is a small port town without many tourist facilities. It’s less than 20 kilometers to Mambajao, the capital city

    Hello Alex,

I do not have current information on the ferries going to Camiguin – sorry. There are usually several roll on – roll off ferries that make this run every day, but I do not know their schedules on the holidays.

A reader has also informed me that the Paras Sea Cat is not making the run from CDO to Camiguin at this time (that was a high speed passenger only ferry).

    Hi ruth,

I am not able to keep up on exact fares because there are just too many pages to keep current.

“dutchpickle” just gives a broad overview of options but the reader has to work out the details.

    cheers

Does Paras have a contact number or email to inquire regarding their status and the corresponding schedules and fares? Please do email me dp. Thanks so much. Good day.

  16. dutchpickle on said:

    Hello ilyn

I am not clear if your final destination is Butuan or Camiguin. The drive from Davao to Butuan is long but not that difficult. The ferry from Balingoan to Camiguin Island is not difficult but I am not sure the cost – sorry.

how much is the charge if we travel 2 busses from balingoan to mambajao? 2 unit of 55 seater bus… please reply we plan to have our convention there

  19. dutchpickle on said:

    Hello Isaiah,

Please try to contact the port authority in Balingoan directly. I have only made that trip a few times and it was several years ago. I think that arrival pier will be in Mahinog on Camiguin and you will have to drive to Mambajao maybe 20 minutes away. Camiguin is a small island and you will likely enjoy the drive. It is in fact an easy and enjoyable drive to circle the entire island on the coastal road. The interior roads are more difficult and some are not suitable for bus travel but the coastal road is a dream : )

I suggest trying to contact any of the operators in Balingoan on Mindanao Island for information. The vessels are not very big so you will likely want to reserve your space in advance because other vehicles might be planning on leaving the same date and if you do not have advance reservations you might have to wait for the next ferry.

I do not have any contact number available – perhaps have your hotel do a little research for you by calling around. They likely have the ferry numbers handy.

Have a great trip – Camiguin is a very pleasant island.

if we will leave in CDO around 5pm will there be any transport we can ride going to Camiguin and will leave Camiguin around 9am the other day?

  22. JayR on said:

    Hi,

Is there still trip to camiguin from CDO?? We are planning to go there this coming Saturday March 10, 2012. Please advise? If none, How to get there? And if there is, is there ticket centers here in Davao? Thanks

  23. dutchpickle on said:

    Hello JayR,

As far as I know there are several ferry trips every day from Balingoan but I do not know if there are trips from CDO at this time. If you are coming from Davao perhaps you can take a bus from Davao to Balingoan and hop on one of the ferries that leave from there?

Balingoan is a small village on the north coast of Mindanao off the highway that runs along the north coast of Mindanao. It is quite close to Camiguin Island and it’s a quick and easy ferry crossing. You can also transport vehicles – roll on roll off.

Try to call the port in Balingoan to get more info. if that would work for you.

I do not know if there is a ferry from CDO at this time.
