Kingsway Inn – Iligan City Mindanao

I highly recommend staying at the Kingsway Inn if you are staying in Iligan in Mindanao. It’s in a great location, the rooms are nice and clean, everything works and there is parking out front with 24 hour security.

This security guard is one of the sharpest I’ve yet met. She has a pleasant personality and speaks excellent English.

Paintings in the lobby are by the owners daughter, Lea C. Padilla.

They have a unique style.

Rooms are 700 pesos for a single and 1,000 pesos for a double.

They all come with air conditioning, hot water shower and cable tv. I didn’t there because they were fully booked except for one single.

My companion won the coin toss, so I stayed down the street at the Fleckstone Inn.

This is really a cheerful place to stay.

Iligan is a reasonably safe place to stay. There is the occasional flare up of tension in the area, but it would be an extreme run of bad luck to be involved in any of it.

There were two guys that drove up on a motorbike waving an American flag and wanting to party with us. I really am not looking for drinking partners and think you could find trouble if you try to find it.

In general, Mindanao is a great place to travel. There are less tourists and so much to discover.

I will not just make the blanket statement that travel in Mindanao is safe however, because there are too many factors to take into consideration.
