Air Asia
Air Asia has regular service between Clark Int. in the Philippines and Kota Kinabalu in Sabah.
Air Asia and Tiger Air are discount airlines with a good reputation for quality cheap transport in asia.
Air Asia grew from 2 jets to 50 in 5 years. They have sweet new Boeing 737′s and Airbus 320′s.
The only complaint could be that the seats are spaced a little tighter together than western airliners.
Food and drinks are available on the plane and their regulations specify that you don’t take any along with you.
The flight from Kota Kinabalu in Sabah to Clark field in the Philippines runs 50 to 75 dollars depending on how and when you book it.
Jakarta to Manila is around 100 USD but the price can fluctuate depending on your internet skills.
My patience is low so I usually use an agent.
Most flights are booked on the internet but there are reservation windows in some of the big airports like Jakarta Int.
A confirmation is printed out so you have your details handy and it’s used to get through security.
There is a 15 kilo baggage limit on international flights but they allow you a carry on of less than 7 kilos. I think domestic flights have a 20 kilo limit.
Most flights are routed through Kuala Lumpur where you might have to spend the night in the airport.
There are 24 hour fast food places open and there will be many others there also waiting for connecting flights in the morning.
If anyone has anything to add you can put it on the forum or email me at dutchpickle @ hotmail. I will cut and paste it as added info. to the story.
