Meet Chaw – owner of Chaw Rubber Bushings under the overpass in Talisay Cebu. He recycles old truck tires by carving them into bushings for motor mounts, vibration dampeners, shock absorbers, and any other application you can think off.
Chaw’s fabrication plant
I always respect a man that is highly skilled and is proud of his work. Chaw is a master at carving those rubber parts that sometimes are difficult to find when you need to replace them.

Cebu
I had been procrastinating re-attatching the fuel tank to my bike because I hadn’t been able to locate “tank rubbers” or the rubber bushings on the chassis that the tank rests on. On my last run to Cotabato City a jeepney had crashed into the bike and the tank was knocked loose.
I was able to get a new front fender, headlight, and fairing when I was down there in Mindanao – but was not able to locate the bushings at any of the Honda shops or the after market parts stores.

Honda mechanic
This bolt, washer, and nut were 2 pesos 50.
The tank bushings cost 20 pesos.
The Honda shop installation cost 100 pesos.
1 liter oil was 140 pesos.
changing the oil cost 50 pesos.

Maayo
As always the service by Maayo Shiping was efficient and on time. Maayo is by far the best way to transport vehicles between Cebu Island and Negros.
Total cost motorbike and driver – 240 pesos.

Some people prefer to fly…
but for me – a motorbike cant be beat.
Here are a few pictures of Dumaguete I took a few hours ago before the sun went down.

Dumaguete waterfront
There was a Harley Davidson rally down at Happy Fred’s but I didn’t pull into the line up with the old hable hable motorcycle.
These were some sweet machines. There are a few motorcycle clubs in the Philippines but it is rare for locals to use a big bikes.
I use a Honda 155 and am on my way to Busuanga island. A light bike handles well on the back roads and these 155′s are like tractors in low gear.
…gotta love the philippines!

Hi DP,
I’m headed to Manila in October and had planned to do a tour through a company that lasts around 4 days from Cebu to Dumaguete..
I was wondering if I could discuss the plan, costs etc with you?
Thanks.
BusBoy
Hello Busboy,
Sure, it’s probably a 4 hour bus trip. maybe 275 pesos or so (6 usd).
Customized tours will run quite a bit more especially if the company quotes in dollars.
