Siquijor Island
Das Traum Guest House and Stop Shop
The Das Traum Stop Shop is at the beginning of the pier where you catch the Delta boat to Dumaguete. The food is good for a fast food place and it's cheap.
Joy has worked 20 years in Germany and met her husband from Portugal over there.
She saved her money and has built up a very tourist friendly place where the prices are low and the service is good.
Two of her children moved back to the Philippines with her and one is staying in school in Germany.
She also took along a huge German Shepard dog that must be one of the biggest dogs in the Philippines.
The prices for accommodation on Siquijor can soar into the stratosphere.
The Das Traum Guest House bucks that trend with really fine rooms for only 350 pesos with discounts for longer stays. I believe it to be the best value on the island by far.
It is a bit off the trail but if you are good at getting around this is the ideal place to stay.
Siquijor itself is a relatively small island that you can drive around in 4 hours so if you rent a bike you can make great day trips.
On Siquijor it is easy to become a resort prisoner because most of these resorts are in isolated locations and you are stuck there.
For some travelers this is what they are looking for but I don't mind eating with the local people and saving quite a bit of money in the process. Public transport is my usual mode of getting around
You could easily get a lift to the dive shops in the mornings if that is your interest.
The Das Traum guest house is about a kilometer from the pier just past the hospital.
