I do this website on the road so am constantly looking for internet cafes with reasonably fast connections where I can update the site.

Most places charge around 25 pesos per hour but the McDonalds has free wi-fi. The connection is sporadic.

The Philippines is a technically advanced country and internet cafes abound with the exception of Manila. To me it seems that they are spread very thin in that capitol city.

In Cebu and Dumaguete, a college town, it is a pleasure to work in a nice air conditioned room.

If you look around there are several places that have laptop access, Scooby’s being the best place. There is one on each end of the downtown. (Fast food downstairs and internet upstairs.)

Fortunately the young boys have not designated this place as a gamers paradise because when you get a gang of school kids yelling and screaming it is hard to concentrate. They usually have at least 3 kids on each computer and if you are in a place that is not air conditioned it really gets hot.

The girls tend to chat on friendster, yahoo and facebook  and other social network sites but rarely do adult Filipinos use the net. These pictures give an idea of just how mad it can get at times.
