This place might well be the best value in Puerto Princesa. You can get a clean fan cooled room for only 400 peso a night.

There are cheaper places but this one is sparkling clean has a great location on the airport road.

If you don’t have a lot of gear it is an easy walk from the airport.

The owner is a very friendly and she is most accommodating. If you plan a longer stay she is also flexible with the rates even though they are already cheap to begin with.

Amelia Pensionne is within walking distance of several good restaurants and bars and it is a short tricycle ride to town. If it is early morning it is a nice walk to Dunkin Donuts. (Tragically they usually do not have coffee, which is one of my only complaints about Puerto Princesa)

img_1192.jpg In the poblacion or city limits the tricycle rides are 7 peso per person.

For longer distances work out the fare with the driver in advance.

Sometimes they can be pretty slippery but most of the drivers are just trying to earn a fair wage.

    dutchpickle just does a website about the Philippines and Indonesia but I don’t make reservations.

    My review is just an unbiased opinion of what is available. I am not connected with the Amelia Pension but feel that it is a good value and in a good location – close to the airport.

    There are many tricycles available just outside the door at the airport that can take you to the pension easily. The airport tricycles are about 5x the cost of the ones on the highway 100 meters form the airport parking lot. I tend to do things on a budget and will walk the 100 meters to get a better value.

    The “dutchpickle” does not actually make reservations or book tours.

    There are many shuttle vans that make the run to Sabang, Palawan where the underground river cave is located. It is cheap and easy if you share the van with others.

    There are many tour companies in Puerto Princesa but I usually take a motorcycle from Puerto to Sabang and arrange my own park ticket.

    Tou should be able to dook a Honda Bay trip rather inexpensively as well.

    I like Amelia Pensionne because of it’s convenient location near the airport and have stayed there 5 or 6 times. I especially prefer the rooms upstairs with the comfortable balconies.

    If you can – try to call them to make arrangements – I do not think that Amelia’s Pensionne makes reservations over the internet.
