Irawan Crocodile Farm – Palawan
The Irawan Crocodile Farm is a great place to see some of the animals that are indigenous to Palawan.
You can even get a picture of yourself holding a croc for 30 pesos!

The entrance fee is around 40 peso which includes a quick tour with the guide through the tank area where the young crocs are reared.

Check out the choppers of this giant 17 foot croc.
There is an enormous skeleton from a salt water crocodile that was captured in the southern town of Batarazza after it had killed a child. Most of the live crocs at the farm are not that big.
It was not made clear if these crocodiles are used commercially at this time or if the farm is still building up it’s stocks.

There is an elaborate system of rearing tanks that are full of small crocodiles.
Crocodile rearing shed – there are rows of fiberglass bins full of baby crocs
Juvenile crocodiles.
Adult crocodiles in the pens outside.
Eventually the plan is to harvest these animals for their leather and meat but there is not much information on that available.
After the 10 minute tour you are free to wander the grounds where a variety of animals unique to Palawan are kept.

That might be the most interesting part of the farm. Bearcats, eagles, bearded pigs and other unusual animals are penned up in large enclosures.
Palawan Bearcat – Binturong
Beautiful Bearcat
Palawan bearded pig – also found in Borneo
White-bellied Sea Eagle
Huge croc!

It may seem unnatural for the animals but it would be difficult to spot them in the wild.
Plan on spending an hour or two looking around.
Just make sure that you don’t arrive at lunchtime.

Dear sir,
I am very much interested in crocodile farming. We have a 3 hectare unproductive land somewhere in Cagayan valley, and I am looking into converting that land into a crocodile farm. What are the steps for me to start of this? Thank you so much.
Hello Candice Hilario,
I can’t be of much help in this area, but a visit to the crocodile farm in Puerto Princessa would be a good place to start.
I am sure that you will need to apply for some sort of government permit, and wade through a bit of red tape, but it sounds like a neat idea.
Good luck!
dp
i like most of the pictures of crocodile here!
can u sent me a brief information about crocodile that not mention yet!
Hello yhanyhan,
I don’t really know very much about crocodiles but it is such an easy trip from Puerto Princessa that it is almost a must do when you are in Palawan.
My biggest piece of useful advice is not to arrive around lunch time because everything shuts down at the crocodile farm for an hour or two and you will have to wait outside the gate or come back later.
cheers
dp
is there a place in puerto Princesa that breed snakes? or do you know anyone who has a collection of snakes?
Hi chris,
I don’t know of any snake breeders in Palawan but I see quite a few dead snakes on the roads.
Some permits may be required but locals should be able to help you get a few specimens. Some are poisonous and others are likely on the endangered list so look into it before you run into legal hassles.

I was told that there was a 23 ft. croc in Palawan, which was actually captured in Siargao. Is this crocodile still alive and what is its name? thanks for the info. JO
Hello John,
I don’t know about any 23′ crocodiles in Siargo but the skeleton of this monster was from an ocean croc that killed a child in Batarazza in southern Palawan.
There are still quite a few crocs along the shores of Palawan but the easiest way to see one is to spend an afternoon at the crocodile farm in Puerto Princessa.
I suspect that the story you were told might have been through the Chinese telegraph a few times before it got to you, and some of the details got lost.
cheers
dp

Hello Patrick,
The Irawan Crocodile farm is on the outskirts of Puerto Princessa. I suggest that you stop in and have a talk with the management next time you are in Palawan.
“dutchpickle” does not sell crocodiles…

what breed are the crocs in palawan>
Hello jeelan,
I can’t help you on that, sorry.

How can people think of breeding crocodiles for their leather? Did you know that they are skinned alive because the skin is easy to remove if blood is still flowing. It’s so cruel.. Now how can you still buy leather when you are already aware where they come from? Billions of animals are killed each year for their skin, just so human can have all that crappy leather products.
Hello Jiana,
I rather doubt the crocs are skinned alive – it would be a tough job to skin a crocodile when it was squirming about.
But you are correct that a lot of animal skins are used for leather.
cheers
dp
hello, just want to ask if how much is the entrance fee at crocodile farm as for now??.. I haven’t been there for quite a time..
Hello Diana
The entrance fee to the crocodile farm is around 30 pesos but don’t arrive at lunchtime because the gate will be closed and you will have to return later – no exceptions!
dp
hi,
wher can i buy hatchling croc (mindorensis) in palawan?
Hi mirko,
I don’t really know about buying the crocs but maybe you should pay the crocodile farm in Puerto Princessa a visit and try to get that info.
Good luck – I am kind of curious about that too!

Hello joy,
Try to arrive around 9:30 am.
The tour will be great and you and your boyfriend will love it!
I am pretty sure that they will let you hold a crocodile while your boyfriend takes your picture! VERY COOL!
Be sure to spend some time looking around some of the other sites in Palawan.

Hi,
I was wondering if you sell crocodile bones or just parts of its sekeleton. I am interested in using it in my artworks. Or if you know how to acquire one around would be a big help. Thanks!
AJ
Hello Skeletall
I am not sure – but if you are planning to ship the parts outside the country be sure to check import regulations.
If you are local it might not be a bad idea to stop in for a visit and do some checking.

They now allow you to have a souvenir photo of yourself holding a young crocodile (with its mouth taped off) for just Php30.00. I do agree with you that the trip to this facility is slightly underwhelming. But it was a pleasant experience nonetheless.
gud day, pwede ho ba malaman kung nadbebenta kayo ng baby crocodile one pair kung magkano ho at may permit ng denr. pang display lng ho sa mini resort dito sa cabanatuan city, nueva ecija.tnx
Hello robert,
I’m not sure if the crocodile farm sells live crocs – you will likely have to contact the management for more details.
dp
its a conservation center that doesnt do much of it in the front back and sideways! FIRST it sells crocodile meat to people, SECOND it stresses baby crocs during photo ops with people who needs to be educated that these are wild animals prone to stress, so its for money. THRID they keep other animals in worse conditions just for show. to think these are endemic animals and its murderous to keep them in cages and in that conditions with poor water quality! FOURTH wearing leather is MURDER, FIFTH it boats of introducing animals back to the wild but NO ONE(from the outside) REALLY HAS WITNESSED IT EVER HAPPENING! so that is the facility people are wasting their money and time on.
Hello
I never saw any crocodile meat offered for sale at this crocodile park sorry.
From where did you get that information?
The young crocs seem to be raised in a reasonably stress free environment. Some of the older ones do get their picture taken with guests at the tour entrance. This is a fairly new development but the tourists seem to love it and the young crocs don’t seemed to alarmed by it either.
This park has an amazing collection of Palawan animals that you would rarely see by chance just traveling around Palawan.
for example:
Palawan bearcat
Palawan bearded pig
rare turtles
eagles
other birds and snakes
This Conservation Park is well worth a visit in my opinion!
dp
good day DP.. :)
do you happen to know the contact number of this facility?
it would help a lot.. thanks.. :D
Hello banz
I don’t have the number now – sorry :)
dp
dear sir/madam
I would like to inquire about your crocodile skin. Could you please send us your price list, by the way we also tanned reptile skin, we are the pioneer in tanning reptile skin here in the Philippines.
thank you
earl gier raymundo
Hello Earl
I don’t think that the reserve sells any crocodiles for leather or meat – this place is more like a wildlife park.
dp
Hi. May i ask what is the operating hours in the Irawan crocodile farm? What time do they open their facility?
Thanks…. :)
