The beds are Mary’s are still the same! :)I used to go there a lot until those blocks of concrete started to appear. Sigh. Another place saying goodbye to peace and tranquility. Oh well, hello $$$

Loving your Palawan posts mate! Gonna have a yarn to Bruce about getting our bikes over there for the next trip May ’10. That Viet food looks great.

    Cheers

    Hello Leng,

I agree with you completely. Kind of sad when “progress” ruins a good thing.

The mega resorts being built are going to change the vibe considerably.

Palawan is really not the “frontier” the advertisement people make it out to be.

The “Last Frontier” is rapidly becoming the “Second Borocay”!

    cheers

    Hi Lindsay,

Sounds like a good idea! Rene Saigons in town is even better.

The roads in Palawan are vastly improved and it’s a breeze to get around!

    cheers

Hi DP, sad to read your article, been a while since I was there but was only simple nipa huts during my last stay.

We stayed a beautiful little resort about 15 minutes walk from Marys, cannot remember the name how ever its well known. Could be Dap Dap….The owner a nice Filipino guy whom was very artistic and boy did it show in the cottages. They were just so cute, all were different and lovely as was the food. Totally inexpensive as well.

We walked both tracks to the underground river, loved it all. had a great time. Not sure now I want to return…..

    Hi Bruce,

Looks like the “Last Frontier” is fast becoming the second Borocay!

ps Dap Dap is still there on the way to the waterfalls and seems to be doing well!

    Hi maricel,

Most of the places in Sabang will not have cooking facilities available.

Be sure to have a look at Roberts Resort too – link

The paddle boat tour just off the monkey trail behind Mary’s Cottages is highly reccommended – link

Wish I was of more help to you.

    Happy trip!

Yeah, Sabang is slowly but surely turning commercial. With the help of the City Council and Mayor, what has happened to Boracay will hopefully not happen to this awesome place.

Despite everything though, this place is definitely worth a trip. And not just for the underground river, mind you. A whole load of nature/adventure stuff like Dutch has explained can be experienced in this area.

    What a trip!

Anyone got an email address for marys that works. That email address just bounces back.

    Hi Sam

Sabang is a dead zone for cell signal so they probably have to have someone check their email in Puerto Princessa. It would be difficult to reserve the budget places in Sabang on line. Both Roberts and Mary’s have backpacker accommodation but they depend on walk in traffic.

    Have fun!

Ps it is very difficult to get a smart signal there in Sabang, I think globe and TM is non existant – sorry

Hi, i knew for a fact that Daluyon Resort has the best accommodation and amenities but it’s kinda costly so wanna hear your recommendation for a low-end but nice and clean resort in Sabang for a couple staying next month.

    Hello Eirol

Robert’s Resort or Mary’s Resort are the best options for budget accommodation on the beach in Sabang, Palawan.

    cheers
