Moana Hotel – Puerto Princesa
This cozy Italian hotel and dive shop is just a few hundred meters from the entrance to the airport.
The Moana Hotel is a short walk from the airport on the road going to town. There is a bar by the pool and another out front.
They have a Palawan bearcat in a cage outside the courtyard. There were two of them but the larger female had died.
The owner of the Moana Hotel had rescued them from the cooking pot and was intending to bring him to the crocodile farm to stay with the other bearcats at the refuge.
These bearcats are not a social animal and the caretakers at the refuge felt that the other bearcats would tear him up because he was still a juvenile . Therefore he remains a fixture at the hotel.
The Moana Hotel has a well equipped dive shop and also organizes trips to the Tubataha reef around 100 miles south of Puerto Princesa in the open sea.
The surroundings are very comfortable at this hotel and there’s a good in -house restaurant serving Italian food. There are several good restaurants within walking distance as well. A motorcycle rental shop is just 50 meters up the road.
The rooms are 750peso for a small fan room, 900peso for a small ac room, 1000peso for a large ac room.

The Moana Hotel is on the Airport Road, the street is shaded by large trees and there are a number of restaurants and clubs on the same street.
For a really outstanding food – try Ka Luis Restaurant it’s tops!
Tricycles pass by in front of Moanas Hotel all night long, and you can get up and down the strip for a few pesos.
Moana Hotel is also convenient to the airport and has a decent pool.

There might be one departure around dinnertime but it is not really an issue.
In fact the airport road is very quite and peaceful most of the time. There are large shade trees along the road and it is really quite nice.
