Riding around on a trail bike or a scooter gives you more flexibility to stop and go when you feel like it.
Honda wave type bikes go for 500 pesos per day
Honda trail bikes go for 800 pesos per day – multi day rentals can be negotiated at a lower rate
Palawan is changing from being the “last frontier” to becoming the “second Borocay” which could be either good or bad, who knows. The southern part of Palawan is growing rapidly due to the Rio Tinto mining operation in Rio Tuba.
Most travelers head north because it is more tourist friendly and there is more to see. It seems to me that the traffic is heavier in the south and there is a lot of construction equipment on the road as well
A majority of the motorcycle down there are brand new as a result of money being pumped into the economy by the mine.
In Puerto Princessa most of the people with money drive brand new 4 wheel drives and kind of look down at motorbikes. It is amazing how fast Palawan is developing.
There are even street lights on the road to Sabang that are both wind and solar powered.
The traffic thins out the further north you go but always use extra caution when riding a bike. Keep in mind that a lot of the road system is brand new and the children are not used to the speed that motor vehicles are going yet, and make poor judgment calls.
Down south there seems to be a lot of drunks driving at night driving with their lights off and being reckless in general. We even saw a speeding cement truck weaving back and forth on the highway.

You can either start in Puerto or El Nido. You might find this route to be rather boring compared to the easy run from Puerto to Sabang.
The gravel road north of Roxas to El Nido is very dusty and it is a good 8 hour drive from Puerto to El Nido.

Hi !
We are 5 guys as are going to Palawan in February. We planing to travel around 1 week. We whant to rent 5 Honda XR200 this week. Do you have that? and what is the condision on the bikes? are they old or new?
What is the price for theis week?
Best regards
Thomas
Hello Thomas,
ATO and Alex both have 200XR’s which they rent out on a first come first served basis.
You might have to get a couple from each shop. They are definately not new.
Usually they will cut deals if you are going to rent for several days.
If they are short on 200XR’s those small XRM’s can handle any roads in Palawan too. The comfort will have to be sacrificed however.
Have a great run!
dp
do you have a bike for longterm rent?
best regards
Peter Miller
Arriving in Manila 28th this month
Hi Peter,
Note – there are three different rental shops listed. They all seem flexible on price and the costs decrease as the rental time increases.
In general the bike shops in Palawan charge more than you would expect on other islands.
cheers

I’ve been in palawan, and rented a motorcycle in carlo motorcycle rental, it’s been 15 days that I took a great vacation and almost seen all wonderful places and spot in the island. The motorcycle i rented was very good, they give me some guide and advices within my tour days and it help me, they also give large discounts if you took long term rentals, and just a tip.. go directly to rental shop or contact them earlier..so you can avail discounts, tricycle drivers sometimes get comission if they bring you in some shops..
we Got many brandnew units. Pls visit our website for more information and reservation

I know this is an old post but my friends and I recently rented little XRM 125s from Alex for only 300 pesos per day on a day to day basis. We met the owner personally on the street and he offered the low rate to us without having the all too common bargain war and even gave us a lift to the shop in his own personal vehicle.
The bikes were well used like all rentals, but they were kept in very good condition and we had no problems mechanically except a leaky valve stem from the brand new tires on one bike but that was a quick 5 peso fix at a roadside shop well out of town. The XRM 125 can handle just about any riding you need to do on this island except in some extreme muddy off road conditions but they worked fine for us both in the jungle and on the beach (but not the soft deep sand) while still able to cruise the highway at 85+ km/h.
If you enjoy riding and don’t mind spending a few extra pesos, renting a one way bike between Puerto Princesa and El Nido is highly recomended. Its a long ride and theres some rough road near El Nido but the alternative bus/van trip is hell.

Hi Chris
Maybe check with Pit Stop Motorbike Rental – I don’t see any problem renting a bike one way to Puerto Princesa from El Nido – I am not sure the cost but they might not have Honda 100s or 125s. The 200 XR is more popular. There is also a public bus and several vans that also make the trip to Puerto fron El Nido if you are not satisfied with the bike rental option. I think the run takes about 8 hours if you drive straight through and do not detour to Port Barton.
I suggest spending the night in Port Barton if you go that way. This should be a great trip!
Pit Stop motorbike rental rents out bikes for one way trips between Puerto Princessa and El Nido also.

hello guys.. i would like to venture on this kind of business, as of now i own 3 bikes, two (2) of which; the yamaha mio soul scooter (automatic) and the kawasaki klx150 trail bike are those i would put into rental. yamaha mio are good for city driving with it’s ease and comfort of riding, the kawasaki klx on the other hand is best for off road tour. my bikes comes with two (2) helmets. for inquiries; you may call or text the following numbers;

8 hours???? A van can make the Puerto to El Nido run in 5 hours.
If I had a motorcycle I could do it in less time.
Right you are! I stop too much along the way ha ha.
