  1. Hi,

We are planning to stay in Sabang instead of just going there for a day tour when we visit Palawan by Feb. Your posting actually helps me decide that we should definitely stay a while in Sabang.
May i ask what restaurant are near the Robert’s Cottage? How much are the food?
Also are there stores there where we can get bottled water?

    Many thanks,
    MJ

    Hello mj,

Roberts has a kitchen and there are a few other restaurants on the road coming into town.

We also ate at the carinderia by the parking lot at the tourist office. There are a few sari sari stores by the parking lot too, but I suggest doing your shopping early because they close early. (Bottled water is plentiful)

We found Sabang to be a great place to stay for a few days. The beach is almost deserted at night and you can have the whole place to yourself. I actually enjoyed it more than the world famous cave.

  3. Hi,
Are the cariderias and restaurant within walking distance from the cottages?

Thank you very much for the input.

Always concerned about International ATM’s being available in Palawan.and other locations, need Cirrus ATM for my cash card.

Interested to travel the island on motorbike for several weeks.

Do you have the National Highway map? The Philippine president visited Samboan in South Cebu near Bato a few weeks ago to open a ferry run to Mindanao. Not sure the schedule.

    Hello Dragging Canoe,

I have found the BDO bank to have the most reliable ATMs and there are branches in almost every major city.

The road maps they sell at National Bookstore work for me.

The easiest ferry run to Mindanao is from Dumaguete to Dapitan. Another is from Liloan in Leyte to Surigao in Mindanao.

    cheers

    Hello Rissa,

The jungle trail to the Sabang underground river starts behind Marys Cottages at the far end of the beach.

You can try to contact either Mary’s or Robert’s Resort by cell phone using the numbers in the post – but the signal in Sabang is horrible and it is often not possible to get a connection.

I have stayed at Roberts for 3 nights and it worked fr me. At night there are few tourists because most of them go back to Puerto Princessa. You can have the moonlit beach all to yourself! It is so nice!

The pumpboats to the landing by the Sabang Underground River leave from the pier by Roberts Resort

The Mangrove Forest tour is behind Mary’s Cottages and you can continue on the trail by foot to the entrance of the underground river.

    have fun!

I started Mary’s way back in honor of my grandma . At that time, there was nothing there but pure and lush nature and deafening waves at night, especially during the rainy season..??? Miss the place..time to go back again…

    Hello Ice

Roberts Resort in Sabang Palawan is right next to the pier where the tourist office is. It will be easiest to just walk over there and book your own trip.

No need to go through a resort because all tours are done through the tour office anyway:)

    Hi,

We might be bringing some trolley bags in our trip to Sabang from El Nido, would it be safe to leave bags in the room?

    Thanks!

  14. dutchpickle on said:

I think it would be ok for the bags but personally I never leave cash in a room anywhere.

    cheers

    Hello yssa,

They have changed things around a bit at Robert’s Resort last year and I do not have their current phone info.

The cell phone signal in Sabang, Palawan is not very good most of the time.

    enjoy
