Charter Day Parade – Catbalogan Samar

Catbalogan celebrated one year of officially becoming a city on June 16 2007. I am not sure what that means but the parade was pretty cool.

No one I talked to was very sure either but it is apparently a political definition that gives the city more clout because nothing changed in the city itself.

Catbalogan is the capitol of Samar and is rather isolated. One ferry a week arrives from Cebu City but most of the other traffic arrives by bus and pumpboats from the outlying islands.

It’s a friendly little college town that gets few tourists but it’s worth a look.
