Grand Tours update – June 2009
The Grand Tours mini-van transport company has expanded recently to a new terminal near the Dona’ Paz memorial park in Catbalogan.
There is stiff competition from another good carrier,Van’s Vans on the corner just down the street.
The result is super low fares for travelers.
You can take a quick safe trip from Catbalogan, Samar all the way to Tacloban, Leyte for only 100 pesos at this time. Catbalogan north to Calbayog costs the same 100 pesos.
The vans leave every half hour from 5:30am until 6:00 pm.
The air conditioning works and the vans are new.
The seats are a bit cramped for those with long legs and there is little room for excess baggage.

The Rolet Hotel and Summers Garden are very near. The fare is 4 pesos per person if using a tricycle, Summers is only 20 meters straight out the gate. Rolet is 3 blocks up the street around the corner.
Maqueda Bay Hotel is on the other side of town past the Eclipse Disco and Edwardos Restaurant. They have the best view in town.
Trexplore is on opposite side of the street from Jolibees. The Tower Restaurant is down the alley by Trexplore – also recommended.
Try getting into the back country if you get a chance. Samar is one of the last unspoiled frontiers left on our small planet!

sir and mam, just got here from catarman, samar. i wasn’t able to make my way to tacloban dis morning coz i forgot i was booked 9am instead of 8 am… i was looking for some contacts in the web for the their branch in catarman, gud thing is they called me 10 minutes before the van leaves for tacloban… AYOS INI!!!

Yung first trip ba from Catbalogan to Calbayog ay aabot doon sa 8 am na flight ng eroplano?. Pwede ba mag add na lang ng additional payments mag papa deretso sa airport yung pasahero? at magkano po ang dagdag na pamasahe..Salamat po.

Excellent service…
on reservations… they are not so organized yet… they are not particular on honoring reservations from catbalogan… They do not track arrival of reserved customers…

They usually have a van leaving every half hour. If you are late in getting to the terminal they just book you on the next van.
