This hotel is undergoing remodeling at this time and is under new management.

The staff here is friendly and the view is probably the best in Catbalogan.
The ground floor is pretty much closed for remodeling at this time (May 2009) but there is a room or two available with 2 single beds each – cost 700 pesos per night.
The “suites” on the upper level run 800 pesos and really are quite nice. They still need a bit of work but I think that this hotel is really going to be a nice place when they get through updating everything.

The Maqueda Hotel is on the beach road past the Eclipse disco and is a bit off the beaten track, but tricycles can take you around town for 4 or 5 pesos.
There is room for 3 cars out front and there is all night security.
The view from some of the rooms really is nice and we got to see a full rainbow before the sunset which was great too.
Dried fish or “bulad” is sold along the road that follows the bay. Nearby Edwardos restaurant is a great place to eat and grab a cold beer.

I stayed at the Maqueda Bay Hotel last weekend for 2 nights (mid Sept 2009).
This Hotel is off the main drag but it is kind on a neat setting and the sunsets are beautiful.

These pics were taken out the window. We fed the fish rice when they came in with the tide.

The dining room is quite nice too! (…but I have never eaten there.)

ps I removed your phone number
hi..
do you have any contact number besides your land line number? is it near the provincial gym?
Hi Mark,
I don’t know where the provincial gym is, but the Maqueda Bay Hotel is near Guinsorongan Beach – the “beach” in Catbalogan City where people swim. (Not really a very nice beach though!)
The Maqueda Bay Hotel was undergoing extensive remodeling on the first floor when I was there last – new management and owner.
This place has some serious untapped potential, because of the large restaurant over the bay and great customer service, and beautiful view.
We stayed on the second floor and enjoyed our stay. The only drawback, is that this hotel is a ways from downtown so you will want to use tricycles for transport. As the night wears on, there are fewer and fewer trikes around.
Sorry I don’t have any cell phone numbers handy.

Hi,
I am going to spend a vacation here in Catbalogan on Oct. 27, to Nov.5,2009. I am planning to stay at Maqueda Bay. May I know if there is a room available on the captioned date and how much is your single room rate. Thank you in advance for your prompt reply.
Hi Barbara,
I stayed at the Maqueda Bay Hotel last Sat and Sun nite. I was there with my girlfriend and her friend from Hinabangan and paid 850 pesos per nite.
You are going to have some fun in this town! I landed up staying in Catbalogan for one year (rented a room from the Pacolis at Summers Garden Pension House)
I suggest you get a hold of Joni if you want a local guide to see some local sights.
cheers

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, and am glad to hear it is being renovated as this hotel has so much potential for growth. I can see by your photos that the renovations have already begun and they look great.
I stayed in this hotel for almost 1 month and enjoyed everything about it.
The view on sunset is amazing, you can catch a boat to one of the islands right from the front door, the inhouse food was pretty good although there are some wonderful places that line the shoreline all the way into town, that come alive at night, worth checking out. Catbologan is a dusty, busy city but definitely try the fish and there are some great beaches just out of town worth checking out. The Staff at Maqueda Bay were fantastic and very helpful. it was a pleasure to stay here and I would love to return and stay again.
