This little guy rides along with the waterman on his route. Many people
in Samar don't have water piped to their homes and depend on someone
with a tricycle to bring it from the pump or well.
Samar still has a lot of wilderness and jungle where wildlife can exist.
I saw a large dead python alongside the road one night and saw a monitor lizard about 5 feet long crossing the road yesterday. It's difficult to get close to wildlife because animals that are too brave either land up in the cook pot or as pets.
Ocassionaly monkeys become pets but they are not really designed for that lifestyle. They get frustrated with being in captivity and often become biters as they get older.
A friend in Cebu used to keep one but it got out of the cage and bit the neighbor kid. It just becomes too much of a hassle and it's really not fair to the monkey.
