Bakken Formation of North Dakota
Some people find the flat open land of North Dakota to be boring and uninteresting but the black gold rush is on full swing and it is kind of groovy in a way.
Many people are flooding into the area to look for work. Tank truck drivers with hazmat certification seem to be the most sought after.
North Dakota has a lot of windy days and you will see windmill farms in parts of the state. Here a tank truck passes by a few windmills north of Williston.
These trucks heading north are likely hauling scoria for road repair and for use on fracking sites.
Site near Springbrook north east of Willingston. The Bakken Formation was named after Henry Bakken who drilled the first oil well in the area in 1951.
Typical Bakken oil field fracking site.
Flat country in North Dakota often has windmill farms set ups. I like the wide open spaces here.
There is a lot of interesting history in this state. Just keep your eyes on the road because the traffic is heavy and a lot of the people on the roads have different styles.

Thank you very much for posting this Mr. Pickle.
I’m a Californian currently living in Manila but I found this interesting anyway, maybe this spring you will be in West Texas and post some photos and comments about the Eagleford too.
