Leg Leg of Tinglayan – Tattoos
Leg Leg has the traditional tattoos that is common to all Kalinga women of the older generation.
These tattoos are made using the needle of the kalamansi tree dipped in charcoal paste. These traditional designs have a lot of meaning but the tattoos are dying out as the older generation passes on.
The new generation has moved on with the times. “dutchpickle” highly recommends the local guide Francis Pa In for trips in this area. He is often to be found at the Pines or the Churya-a hotels in Bontoc.
He has extensive knowledge of the area, speaks English very well, and of course is fluent in the native Kalinga tongue.
