Milagrosa Shipping is one option to use when traveling to Puerto Princesa, Palawan from Iloilo, Panay. It’s handy for overlanders that are coming from Boracay and want to head to Palawan with out backtracking.
Milagrosa has 2 boats – the bigger one leaves Iloilo at 7pm Monday nite and the smaller one leaves on Thursday nite.
The pier is in Lapuz, Lapaz on the river that runs through town
Always call first just to be sure of the schedule. Last year the smaller vessel was in dry dock for a few months and there was only one trip a week.

The vessel will make a port of call on Cuyo Island. You have about 5 or 6 hours to get off the boat and do a bit of exploring and get some food.
I have done this trip twice and am satisfied with the deluxe accommodation. It’s on the upper level and you get a good breeze up there. Economy is a tad cheaper but it is quite crowded and hot. There is a shower on the boat which helps you from getting too grubby.

Cuyo Island
There is a reasonably fast internet in Cuyo, the Feroland Hotel. It’s a good way to kill some time without getting too heated up walking around. There isn’t really that much to see in town, but it’s a good idea to pick up some food and drinks because you will not arrive in Puerto Princesa until 8am the following morning.
You land up spending two nights on the ship.

A pilot hops aboard to navigate the ship to the pier.

I took my bike along – 977 pesos plus port fees, stevedoring, arrastre, customs and all sorts of little nicks. In most ports it is an easy process but in Puerto it takes 7 steps.

Hello Lindsay,
Sounds good. It’s a pretty easy trip but also check with Montenegro lines. They make the trip once a week between Iloilo and Puerto Princessa.
With Montenergo you can just drive your bike on and off the boat without the use of a boom. It would make things easier.
cheers

Hello Sir!
I am considering this shipping line to Iloilo from Puerto Princesa, aside from Montenegro. Do you have any idea on what time and certain day of the week does this sail going back to Iloilo? We’re going to Cebu next month to do a Cebu-Bohol trip and we’re trying to weigh things whether getting a direct flight PPS-CEB through Cebu Pacific would be better instead of taking a ship (+ on ship because we get to travel more).
I hope to hear more from you sir. Thanks!
Hello ren,
Much better for you to fly because it is a hassle to take the boat. I use Milagrosa J shipping because I travel with my motorcycle.
If you are trying to get from Puerto Princessa to Cebu using boat and bus it will take you 3 to 4 days because:
first step – you will go from Puerto Princessa – stopping for 6-8 hours in Cuyo Island – then proceeding onwards to Iloilo, Panay
second step – you will have to get a boat to Bacolod on the Island of Negros
third step – you will have to take a bus over the mountains to San Carlos
fourth step – you will have to take a boat from San Carlos to Cebu Island
fifth step – you will have to take a bus to Cebu city
…then to continue onwards you can take one of the ferries in Cebu City to Bohol Island
happy trip

ps Milagrosa J is a good option if traveling from Borocay – to Iloilo – to Puerto Princessa
you can take the bus to Iloilo and then catch the ferry from there to Puerto Princessa
thank U for the info. I am planning to visit Cuyo by March 2011 to find my roots there. this will be a voyage to look forward to. Im checking Montenegro Shipping & Milagrosa Shipping for their updated schedules.

Hi Suzette,

what time ang alis nyo ngayong araw mula puerto to iloilo?
Hello ryan
Please call Milagrosa Shipping to check the sailing schedule and check fare rates. Their office is just outside the port on the road leading to town..
Also check with Montenegro Shipping for their schedule and see what works best for you.
Both shipping companies stop for a few hours on Cuyo Island – you can get off the boat and walk around town and get something to eat if you want but i think you have to pay a small port entrance fee when you return.
